The Samuel & Ethel Balkan International Pediatric Glaucoma Center
The Samuel & Ethel Balkan International Pediatric Glaucoma Center is the world’s first integrated services center dedicated to helping infants and children with glaucoma. Located within Bascom Palmer Eye Institute’s flagship eye hospital in Miami, the Balkan Center was made possible by a generous gift from Donna May Balkan Litowitz, with her husband Bob, in honor of her parents, Samuel and Ethel Balkan.
Under the directorship of Alana L. Grajewski, M.D., the Balkan Center offers a first of its kind multi-disciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating pediatric glaucoma. The different treatment specialties include:

Young patients at the Balkan Center will have access to the most advanced specialists, leading-edge diagnostic technology and surgical treatments, and genetic screening through a partnership with the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
