For the 10th consecutive year, the renowned institute is ranked No. 1 nationally in ophthalmology in U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Hospitals” rankings.

Bascom Palmer Physicians Recognized for Excellence by Esteemed Florida Society

Two Bascom Palmer Eye Institute physicians were honored at the Florida Society of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting this past weekend, with Ninel Z. Gregori, M.D., associate professor of clinical ophthalmology, receiving the Michael R. Redmond, M.D., Outstanding Young Ophthalmologist Leadership Award, and J. William Harbour, M.D., professor of ophthalmology, receiving the Shaler Richardson, M.D., Service to Medicine Award.

Bascom Palmer Eye Institute Receives Florida Choice Award in Naples

Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Naples was named a winner of the 11th Annual Southwest Florida Choice Awards presented by the Naples Daily News. The award is given to businesses that are chosen by readers of the paper and its website, The winners were acknowledged at a reception held Thursday, June 13, at Artis-Naples, formerly the Naples Philharmonic.

Bascom Palmer Researchers Make Discoveries That Could Restore Vision in Demyelinating Disease

A research team from UHealth’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the Miller School demonstrates for the first time how these disease processes cause important changes to neurons in the retina. The discoveries are not only important scientifically, but they will facilitate clinical interventions to potentially reverse – or ideally prevent — vision loss before patients become symptomatic.

Dr. David S. Greenfield Elected Vice President of the American Glaucoma Society

David S. Greenfield, M.D., professor of ophthalmology and Director of the Glaucoma Fellowship Program at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, has been elected Vice President of the American Glaucoma Society (AGS). He will represent the more than 1,000 clinician and scientist members as they work to further enhance the society’s heritage as the leading glaucoma subspecialty organization.
