The state-of-the-art innovative building design of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at Naples is in the running for the American Institute of Architects Tampa Bay’s People’s Choice Award.
About the Building:
Bascom Palmer partnered with the leading multi-disciplinary design and consulting firm Gresham, Smith and Partners to design the state-of-the-art two-story, 21,200-square-foot eye clinic and ambulatory surgery center.
The cutting-edge eye care center dedicated to delivering the highest level of ophthalmic care, research and education to patients in Collier County recently celebrated its one-year anniversary.
Eleven years ago, Bascom Palmer opened the only university-based eye care center in Southwest Florida in a leased, 3,000-square foot office, primarily to diagnose and treat retinal and macular diseases. Since then, the practice has grown considerably in size and scope prompting the need for a larger, more advanced facility.
The new contemporary center has more than six times the clinical space of the previous facility. The new building has 22 examination rooms and is LEED certified, a building certification program that recognizes leadership in energy and environmental design.
In August, the facility won the “Best of Healthcare 2016” title during the International Interior Design Association South Florida Chapter’s first annual Bragg Awards.
Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is ranked the nation’s best in ophthalmology by U.S. News & World Report, an honor it has received for the 15th time. In addition to its international reputation as one of the premier providers of eye care in the world, Bascom Palmer is the largest ophthalmic care, research and educational facility in the southeastern United States.
