Bascom Palmer forms international alliance to help Haiti
Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine continue to mobilize their resources to provide help to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Bascom Palmer physicians, nurses, technicians and employees are traveling to Haiti with medications, eyeglasses and medical instruments providing ophthalmic and trauma care to earthquake victims.
In addition, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute has developed a collaborative effort with the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology to establish the Task Force on Haiti Recovery to guide Haiti relief efforts. The task force works closely with Haitian leadership – the Haitian Society of Ophthalmology and the University of Haiti Eye Hospital to facilitate the recovery of ophthalmic practice and delivery of eye care.
