Grand Rounds and Lectures

Grand Rounds and clinical and research lectures at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine have been a tradition since the Institute's founding in 1962. Grand Rounds is now broadcast live via WebMeeting and is accessible to all current Bascom Palmer faculty, residents and fellows. Others who wish to see the live broadcast of Grand Rounds must contact Rick Stratton prior to the start of Grand Rounds on Thursday mornings. Below, you will find recently archived Grand Rounds case presentations, faculty lectures and a new feature, ophthalmic ultrasound lectures for physicians. Additional Grand Round presentations are available for Bascom Palmer's faculty, residents and fellows, log in here.

We are happy to announce that Bascom Palmer voluntary faculty member, Yale Fisher, MD, has developed a novel instructional Web site for ophthalmologists. OphthalmicEdge is a compilation of clinical lectures and short movies for ophthalmology residents, fellows, ophthalmologists and ophthalmic technicians with little or no understanding of Diagnostic Ophthalmic Ultrasound.

Bascom Palmer’s Grand Rounds is now accessible live online for all current Bascom Palmer faculty, residents and fellows. Broadcasting Grand Rounds via the WebMeeting will facilitate participation for physicians in our Palm Beach Gardens, Naples and Plantation centers. The WebMeeting allows attendees to post questions online which the moderator will in turn pose to the presenter for live discussion. To access the meeting just before it begins or while it is in progress, go to the Bascom Palmer Grand Rounds Webmeeting Website and login with your proper UM login and password. If you are logging in for the first time, it is recommended that you attempt to do so prior to Grand Rounds day so if there is any connection or authorization complication it can be addressed prior to the meeting. No technical support will be available once Grand Rounds have started.
